Missing Japanese found in Maguindanao

John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Authorities remain clueless on how a Japanese named Yashuhiro Nakamura ended up in Guindulungan town in Maguindanao after having been reported missing for two months.

Chief Superintendent Noel delos Reyes, director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) police, could not provide full details on the reported “release” of Nakamura by his captors, saying it was an elite group of police officers who fetched the Japanese from Guindulungan last July 13.

Text messages have been circulating since Thursday indicating Nakamura was snatched in Cotabato City two months earlier.

“We have very limited information about his alleged kidnapping and captivity in Maguindanao,” Delos Reyes said.

The Cotabato City police have not reported any kidnapping of a Japanese national two months ago.
