'Kidnapped' Japanese ends up in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY, Philippines - The police remained clueless on how a Japanese national named Yashuhiro Nakamura ended up wandering in Guindulungan, Maguindanao after having been missing for two months.

Chief Supt. Noel Delos Reyes, director of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) police, provided limited details on the reported “release” of Nakamura by his captors, citing it was an elite group of policemen that fetched him from Guindulungan last July 13.

Text messages have been circulating since Thursday, purporting that Nakamura was snatched in Cotabato City two months earlier.

The foreigner is reportedly connected with the Asian Benefits Corp.

“We have very limited information about his alleged abduction and captivity in Maguindanao,” Delos Reyes said.

The Cotabato City police under the Region 12 police office in Gen. Santos City also did not report of any abduction of a Japanese national in the city two months ago.

The text messages spreading around said Nakamura was “kidnapped” on April 25 somewhere in Cotabato City.
