DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte is being eyed as an alternative location for the expansion of the Davao International Airport. Samal is five minutes across mainland Davao City.
Davao del Norte Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario said Samal Island is the best location for an international airport, specifically the Babak district that has vast tracts of land that could accommodate at least 1,000 hectares required of an international gateway.
Del Rosario, who recently took over as chairman of the Regional Development Council, said the airport project would be one of his priorities.
