MANILA, Philippines - The Armed Forces’ Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) has enough troops to foil any attempts by threat groups to sow terror in Davao City.
Eastmincom led by Lt. Gen. Ricardo Rainier Cruz III gave this assurance yesterday as Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte raised a terror alert after no less than President Aquino warned him of potential threats.
Eastmincom spokesman Capt. Alberto Caber said police and military units in Davao City have always been on alert even before such terror threats were reported.
“We have more than enough forces to secure Davao City and its neighboring towns and communities,” Caber said.
For his part, Cruz has mobilized all military units in the city to verify and validate the reported threats and to determine the terror groups’ plans and intent.
“(Police) intelligence units are also doing the same efforts. We are working jointly with the Philippine National Police,” Cruz said in a statement.
