Groups to help market P’sinan products abroad

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – Local products will be marketed abroad, thanks to the link provided by the Pangasinan Brotherhood Association-USA Association Inc. (PB-USA Inc.) and the Business Stability Task Force of the US Defense Department whose officials came here to finally make this dream come true.

“They say it’s a mission impossible but I say no, it can be done, we will find a way,” said Eddie Ferrer, president of PB-USA Inc. and a Pangasinense who has been doing business in the United States for 30 years.

“We thought about it, we planned about it, we studied it, and today we are executing it,” he added when his delegation called on Gov. Amado Espino Jr. and the provincial board last Monday.

Ferrer said Pangasinan’s product potential is not only limited to food products, but also to other local goods like toys, novelty items and religious articles.

Jan Lum Ho, comptroller of the US Defense Department’s Business Stability Task Force, who traces her paternal roots to Dagupan City, said they linked up with the PB-USA Inc. because of its project that is parallel with what they are doing in Pakistan.

“We are in the same mission and we want to help people and therefore you secure a community, a nation, one import, one export at a time,” she said.

Ferrer and Ho have encouraged local producers to join the first Asian Developing Countries Exposition on Oct. 3-4 in California that is designed to create new markets for grassroots entrepreneurs.
