Security guard dead after shooting self

ZAMBOANGA CITY - - A security guard was killed after he accidentally shot his head while allegedly toying with his issued shotgun pre-dawn Thursday in a village of Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, according to the police.

The victim was identified as Roy Mangharal, 28, married, who worked for Tabunaway Warrior Security Agency and assigned as security guard in a Camella Homes located at Barangay Tiguma, Pagadian City.

Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega, spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said that based on the statement of another security guard, the victim assigned to the entrance gate of the subdivision went to one of the model houses and was seen playing with his 12-gauge shotgun by pointing and s aiming the barrel of his firearm to his head.

The victim then accidentally squeezed the trigger and hit his head and died on the spot.

Responding police recovered the shotgun loaded with live ammunition and an empty shell. The police also recovered another seven live ammunition in the pocket of the victim.

However, the police will continue to probe the incident to determine whether there was foul play. - Roel Pareño
