Brewing cyclone spotted off Ilocos
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring another low pressure area (LPA) as the southwest monsoon continues to affect the country.
In its daily weather forecast, PAGASA said the LPA was located at 430 kilometers west northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur and still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
If it develops into a tropical depression and enters the country, it will be named "Florita."
The weather bureau said the Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan group of islands, and the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and Central Luzon will experience monsoon rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have occasional rains and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA said moderate to strong winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Light to moderate winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Visayas and from the south to southwest over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas.
