DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Eight police officers led by city police chief Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr. and a police sketch artist received cash rewards from Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for the early solution of the June 6 killing of restaurant owner and former newspaper columnist Ramon Teodoro Garcia.
The body of Garcia, owner of the Nanay Bebeng chain of restaurants here, was dumped in Malalag, Davao del Sur while his vehicle was found burned in Malungon, Sarangani.
Police were able to solve the case and arrest two suspects – Daisy Joy Capachero and her boyfriend John Liawan – seven hours after Garcia was seen going out of the Apo View Hotel here with Capachero.
Duterte gave Danao P50,000 and a brand new Taurus .38 snub nose revolver; PO3 Roberto Jaca Jr., PO1 Frank Nissan Tuyor, and PO3 Risty Go, P10,000 each; Chief Inspector Alfred Santillana, P30,000; SPO1 Rizaldo Suaga, PO1 Bhobit Jerome Tumuran, and PO1 Peterson Amaguen, P20,000 each; and police sketch artist Edson Berdos, P10,000.
