Suspected hired guns kill Zamboanga hotel owner
ZAMBOANGA CITY - Two suspected hired assassins were captured after killing a hotel owner and wounding a security guard in this city, Thursday morning.
Chief Inspector Felixberto Martinez, chief of the city police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, identified the suspects as Ernesto Angeles Bello and Silbert Villareal, both natives of Vitali district east of this city.
Martinez identified the fatality as Hadja Salwa Kaman Julwadi, owner of Hotel Salwa along Governor Camins Road. Her injured security guard as Michael Tista.
Police said that according to witnesses, the two suspects on board a motorcycle drove by the hotel and fired at the victims. The attack happened at around 9:45 a.m.
A relative of the victim was able to fire back at the suspects and engaged them in a shootout. As the suspected assassains attempted to escape, they fled to a dead end drive near the hotel, where they were captured.
Martinez said that the two suspects could be hired guns.
