Makati businessman robbed of close to P3M in cash, gadgets

MANILA, Philippines - A Makati "buy-and-sell" businessman was robbed of some P2.8 million in cash, jewelry, and gadgets  on Sunday night by five armed men who posed as police officers.

According to a police report, the victim, Mark Anthony Yamson, 35, of Santol Street, Barangay San Antonio, was at the garage of his house with Maximillian Valdecantods, his motorcycle mechanic, when the suspects appeared at about 7 p.m.

The suspects then shouted “We are policemen, where is Ariel” in Filipino and then drew out their pistols.

The suspects then entered the victim’s house and at gunpoint, carted away the valuables which included two laptop computers, assorted jewelry, mobile phones, a Rolex watch worth P550,000 and a vault containing P752,000 in cash.  Also taken was a piece of elephant tusk ivory worth P500,000.

After ransacking the house, the suspects then locked up Yamson and Valdecantods inside one of the house’s rooms. Police are now tracking down the suspects.
