Lady NPA finance officer nabbed in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY - A female finance officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) was captured in a raid in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, on Saturday.

Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega, spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said the suspect identified as Maris Bejec Muñoz has a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of rebellion.

The raiding forces led by Aurora police chief Senior Inspector Heidel Teelan backed by the police and military intelligence units swooped down on Barangay Poblacion and cornered the suspected NPA leader.

Ortega said the arresting forces presented to Muñoz her standing warrant of arrest for the crime of rebellion issued by Judge Edilberto Absin of regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 18 in Pagadian City, which recommended no bail bond.

The police said Ortega is a finance officer of the NPA Western Mindanao Revolutionary People’s Command (WMRPC).

The suspect has been detained at the Aurora police.
