MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – Two feuding drivers of passenger motorcycles ended up dead on Tuesday in a knife duel sparked by a minor argument over trip schedules set by barangay officials.
Instead of resolving their misunderstanding amicably, Jaime Mondido and Ronald Casil pulled out knives tucked in their waists and lanced each other in the presence of their horrified passengers in Sitio Riverside in Barangay Denganen in Buldon town.
Investigators said Mondido, who died from knife wounds in different parts of his body, was a member of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit.
Casil also died from stab wounds in his abdomen and chest.
The Buldon municipal police said the immediate families of Mondido and Casil have agreed to deescalate the conflict by refraining from retaliating against each other.
