CAMP FLORENDO, La Union, Philippines – Chief Superintendent Roman Felix, former director of the Philippine National Police’s Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG), was installed yesterday as the new director of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) here.
Felix replaced Chief Superintendent Moro Virgilio Lazo, the deputy regional director for administration (DRDA), who served as officer-in-charge for six months.
Lazo was promoted from senior superintendent to chief superintendent – akin to being promoted from colonel to general in the military – while serving as officer-in-charge of PRO1. He remains the deputy regional director for administration.
Felix, a member of the Philippine Military Class ’83, was a former provincial director of the Ilocos Norte police and DRDA of PRO1 before he was designated as chief of the PSPG.
Felix, a native of Tuguegarao, Cagayan, vowed to beef up police visibility in his area of responsibility, promote closer ties with the community, improve disaster preparedness and response capability management and intensify crime prevention.
