BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Three detainees, one of them a minor, escaped the detention cell of Bago City police station in Negros Occidental on Thursday night, but two of them were apprehended the next day.
Superintendnt Arnel Arpon, chief of Bago City police, identified the two as Emil Pacheco, 18, and a 17-year-old minor, both residents of Barangay Caridad, Bago City.
Leonardo Ramos Jr., who is facing theft charges, has yet to be recaptured as of press time.
Arpon said Pacheco and the minor were re-arrested at their residence at around 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Jail officer Senior Police Officer 2 Jose Ma. Antonio Ramos discovered the three detainees escaped at around 6:45 p.m.
The three reportedly picked the padlock of their cell with a nail cutter.
Arpon said a tracker team was immediately formed that resulted in the apprehension of the two suspects. A manhunt for Ramos was ongoing as of press time.
Pacheco and the minor were arrested by the Bago City police last week after they allegedly robbed a lending firm with P10,000 cash.
Investigation showed the minor has a standing arrest warrant for robbery in band with a P40,000-bail.
Arpon said Ramos was arrested by the Hinigaran police last week for theft and was endorsed to the Bago City police station after they found out that the suspect has a pending theft charges in the city.
Arpon ordered Ramos to explain the incident within 24 hours as he relieved him from his post.
