CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Four people, including a 14-year-old girl, were killed while three others were injured in a road mishap involving three vehicles in Ibaan, Batangas yesterday morning, authorities said.
The fatalities were identified as Ferdinand Uy, driver of a Honda Civic (license plate WHJ-577); Bernie Supnit, driver of a Kawasaki tricycle (WU-8820); and Glenn Miñas, who were all declared dead on arrival at the Queen Mary Hospital; and Mina Gariando, 14, who died hours after the accident while being treated in the hospital.
The three injured – Lovely May Castillo, Diane Bolima, and Jomar Sanchez – were among the six passengers of the Honda Civic which had come from Rosario town.
Senior Inspector Ramises de Castro, Ibaan police chief, said Uy lost control of the car when he overtook a motorcycle in Barangay San Agustin at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday.
De Castro said the car hit the parked tricycle where Supnit was resting, and then rammed another tricycle before slamming into an electrical post. – Ed Amoroso, Arnell Ozaeta
