Ex-Laguna vice mayor shot in cockpit

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A former vice mayor of Famy town in Laguna was wounded in an ambush yesterday afternoon, police said.

Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Laguna police director, said former vice mayor Amadeo Punio was in a cockpit in Barangay Tunhac in Famy when he was shot several times at around 2:30 p.m.

Two other persons in the cockpit were hit by stray bullets.

After the shooting, the gunman fled on a motorcycle.

Investigators were still clueless on the slay attempt on Punio.
