Barangay exec yields drugs in Aklan raid

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a village official after authorities seized illegal drugs during a raid on his house in Aklan.

Belated reports said that Isidro Mayor Bune, 40, barangay chairman of the Pinamuk-an, New Washington, Aklan, was hauled off to jail by joint members of Provincial Intelligence Board (PIB), Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (PAIDSOTF) and Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC).

Reports said that authorities, with a search warrant issued by Judge Marietta Homena, Executive Judge of Regional Trial Court branch 6 in Kalibo, raided Bune's house  last May 13 around 10 a.m.

During the search, operatives confiscated from the house of the suspect  10 small plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride known as "shabu", cash money in the amount of P1,000, a brown wallet, and a cellphone.

The suspect and  the pieces of evidence are now under the custody of New Washington Municipal Police Station.
