Father hacks own son to death in South Cotabato

SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines - A father hacked his drunken son to death late Tuesday in Banga town, police said.

Suspect Fred Lucias Sr. escaped after the hacking his son, Fred Jr. to death.

The younger Lucias died in a hospital while being treated of his wounds.

Police Officer 3 Cris Lino Arang, investigator of the Banga municipal police, said that the younger Lucias had just finished drinking a gallon of Tuba when he challenged members of his family to a fight which led to an altercation between the father and son.

Irked by the incident, the father took a bolo from their kitchen and attacked his own son.

Relatives said the suspect ran right after he felled his son with the bolo.
