46th IB to be moved to Davao

MANILA, Philippines - The military is planning to pull out a battalion of soldiers from Maguindanao due to the improved security situation in the area. The Army’ 46th Infantry Battalion based in Ampatuan, Maguindanao will be moved to the Davao region in a week’s time, officials said.

1Lt. Ralph Pantonial, the battalion’s civil-military operations officer, said the plan was mentioned by 6th Infantry Division chief Maj. Gen. Romeo Gapuz during his farewell visit at Camp Waray in Ampatuan town over the weekend.

Gapuz is scheduled to retire from the service on May 26.
