Barangay exec, OFW shot dead in Caloocan and Manila

MANILA, Philippines -  Unidentified gunmen shot dead a barangay councilman in Caloocan City on Friday.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Bernard Tambauan said Rogelio Escano, 53, was delivering meat to a restaurant on 8th Avenue East, Grace Park, when the assailants approached him and shot him in the head.

Police investigators have yet to determine the motive for the councilman's killing.

Meawhile, a hotel in employee was gunned down near his house by gunmen riding in tandem in Manila.

Reports said that Diosdado Villegas, 51, was watering plants near his house on Leyte Street, Balic-balic, Sampaloc district, when he was peppered with bullets by the suspects, armed with cal.45 pistols.

Witnesses told police investigators that the gunmen escaped on board a motorcycle.

Reports said the victim was supposed to leave on Saturday for Hawaii where he works in a hotel.
