Pampanga peasant leader dead, wife hurt in ambush

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga , Philippines   â€“ A peasant leader was shot dead while his wife was critically wounded in an ambush in Porac town this province last Friday night.

The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) said Nemelao Barcia, 54, who died on the spot, and his wife Maria, 54, were on their way home when they were waylaid at around 9 p.m. Friday.

Barcia was a barangay councilman and leader of an affiliate group of the Aguman Maglalautang Capampangan-KMP.
