MANILA, Philippines - Three rookie Quezon City policemen are now facing criminal charges before the prosecutors office after they tried to extort money from a couple.
Police Officers 1 Roland Mansibang, Ronaldo Englis and Christopher Lucky dela Peña, all assigned to the Galas police station 11, are now slapped with attempted robbery charges before the Quezon City Prosecutors' Office.
Aside from the criminal charges, the three policemen will be facing administrative charges and summary dismissal proceedings, according to QC Police District director, Chief Superintendent Richard Albano.
"We don't want this kind of policeman to stay any longer in the service , much more in QCPD," Albano said in a statement.
Mansibang and Englis are now detained at the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit in Camp Karingal while Dela Peña remains at large.
The case stemmed from the complaint filed last April 30 by a couple who accused the three policemen of trying to extort money.
The couple earlier sought help from Philippine National Police publicist Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac.
