Gun permits in Laguna suspended during 'Palarong Pambansa'
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday announced that it has suspended permit to carry firearms in Laguna, which will take effect for 19 days or for the whole duration of the Palarong Pambansa.
The PNP said suspended it will suspend all Permits to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) effective midnight of April 28 to May 16 for the scheduled holding of the games.
"This is part of the security preparations to ensure that the said celebration will be free from firearm-related incidents and to ensure safety of the populace particularly the athletes, as well the tourist," PNP Chief Police Director General Alan Purisima said.
"Only the members of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other law enforcement agencies who are performing official duties and in agency-prescribed uniforms will be allowed to carry firearms," he added.
The PNP’s directive will be implemented through the Police Integrated Patrol System, which includes the conduct of checkpoints, Oplan Bakal, mobile and foot patrols, and other police security operations in coordination with government agencies and local government units.
