35,000 to take PNP exams this weekend

MANILA, Philippines - A total of 35,357 examinees will take the Philippine National Police (PNP) entrance and promotional examinations on Sunday in designated testing centers nationwide, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) announced Friday.

Napolcom Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Eduardo Escueta said that of the figure, 14,256 would be taking the PNP entrance examination while 21,101 will be taking the promotional tests.

A total of 1,151 of the 14,256 examinees for the PNP entrance test and 3,797 out of the 21,101 police examinees for promotional tests would take the exams in the National Capital Region (NCR) testing centers: Pitogo High School, Benigno Aquino High School and Fort Bonifacio High School, all in Makati City.

Escueta added that the examinations would cover the qualifying examination for Police Officer I and the promotional examinations for Police Officers 2 and 3; Senior Police Officer (for SPO1 to SPO4); Police Inspector (for Inspector and Senior Inspector); and Police Superintendent (for Chief Inspector and Superintendent).

"The PNP entrance examination consists of questions on general information, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and logical reasoning; while the promotional examinations include general information, police administration and operations, and police customs and tradition, values and ethical standards,” he said.

Josephmar Gil, Napolcom Acting Personnel and Administrative Service Chief reminded examinees to strictly observe the dress code when reporting to the examination centers.

Aside from Makati, other test centers are located in San Fernando (La Union), Tuguegarao, Pampanga, Cabanatuan, Calamba, Cavite, Calapan, Legazpi, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Pagadian, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Koronadal, Cotabato, Butuan, Baguio, Odiongan (Romblon), Sablayan (Occidental Mindoro), Liloy (Zamboanga del Norte) and Bonggao (Tawi-Tawi).

Gil said applicants for the PNP Entrance examination should wear plain white T-shirt or collared shirt, dark pants and shoes while those who will take the promotional examinations are required to wear government official attire (GOA) Type B (field cap, no awards or medals) or the patrol shirt.

Gil said examinees not wearing the prescribed attire will not be allowed to enter the examination centers.

Examinees are also reminded to bring their notice of admission, a No. 2 pencil, black ball pen and any valid identification card with picture and signature. Examinees are also strictly prohibited to bring inside the testing center cellular phones, electronic gadgets, pagers or any two-way radio set, calculators, review materials, explosives, firearms or deadly weapons.
