Man slain, daughter hurt in Lipa shooting
BATANGAS, Philippines – A 48-year-old man was killed while his seven-month-old daughter was wounded when an unidentified assailant shot them in Lipa City on Friday, police reported yesterday.
Ferdinand Dimaandal of Barangay Sabang was holding his daughter Ashley Joy when the gunman barged into their house and shot them at around 7:30 a.m., said Superintendent Jacinto Malinao, Lipa police chief.
Dimaandal was killed at the scene while his daughter was rushed to the Lipa District Hospital for treatment.
The gunman fled on a motorcycle after the incident.
Malinao said investigators are looking into love triangle as the motive for the killing, as Dimaandal was reportedly living with a woman whose husband is serving a sentence at the New Bilibid Prison.
He said the woman reportedly received threats from her husband.
Investigators are also looking into the possibility that the killing was carried out by a former cellmate of the woman’s husband.
