6 guards cited for foiling kidnap, car theft
ANGELES CITY, Philippines – Six security guards who foiled a kidnapping and car theft at the Nepo Commercial Center here two weeks ago were cited by the city government on Sunday.
Councilor Edu Pamintuan – who represented his father, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan – handed plaques of appreciation to Glocke Security Agency chief Ronald Morilla and his men Joel Ariola, Abraham Cipriano, Mark Kris dela Vega, Jenny Espanola and Ricard Sandot.
“The immediate action of our security guards prevented the suspect Marlon Paras from taking away the Hyundai Starex vehicle and the kidnapping its owner, businesswoman Gloria Suarez,†the Nepo commercial center developer JDN Sons, Inc. said in a statement.
Paras was trapped after the guards set up road blockades and shot at the tires of the vehicle to prevent him from driving further.
Last week, another woman, whose name was withheld, was also believed kidnapped at gunpoint at the Pampang market here. As of Sunday, there was no information yet whether the kidnappers demanded ransom.
Last month, a physician was kidnapped in Barangay Poblacion in Mabalacat City but released unharmed a few days later.
