Bus firms with pirated DVD movies could face fines
MANILA, Philippines - Some bus companies could be facing fines after they were caught showing pirated DVD movies inside their units during an inspection by the members of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board in a terminal in Parañaque City.
On Monday, an MTRCB team conducted a surprise inspection of buses at the Southwest Integrated Provincial Transport Terminal at the Coastal Mall, according to the bureau's Twitter account.
The MTRCB personnel led by chairman Eugenio "Toto" Villareal discovered that almost all of the buses do not have a sticker from the agency which indicate that only rated PG (parental guidance) movies can be shown inside the units.
The movies that are being shown inside the vehicles have not been reviewed or evaluated by the MTRCB, a report said.
The inspection was done to ensure that there will be no lewd movies will be shown to passengers, especially children, going to the provinces during the Holy Week break.
The report said that aside from the buses, the MTRCB also inspected several passenger ships at the North Harbor in Manila.
