ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A municipal councilor was killed in an ambush while on his way to attend a regular council session on Monday in Godod town in Zamboanga del Norte, authorities said.
Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega, Region 9 police spokesman, said Councilor Arthur Gringo Buaya, 51, was on board his motorcycle when at least five armed men shot him with .45-caliber pistols, killing him on the spot.
