Ex-PBA cager, companion killed in SLEX mishap -report
MANILA, Philippines - A former cager of the Philippine Basketball Association and a companion were killed while two others were injured during a three-vehicle smash up along the South Luzon Expressway in Laguna Tuesday.
A radio report said that ex PBA player Bryan Gahol and Rosemarie Manalo died after a cargo jeep slammed into a trailer truck which was speeding along the right outer lane of the SLEX.
The driver of the trailer truck lost control and swerved to the left inner lane of the highway until it hit Gahol's Nissa urvan, which spun around before it struck the cargo jeep, the report added.
Meawhile, injured during the accident were occupants of the cargo jeep, identified as Johnny Bangsoy and Felix Gonatisie, while three of Gahol's companions were unscathed.
Reports said Gahol's group were on their way attend the wake of a friend in Quezon City when the accident happened.
Authorities are now in the custody of the driver of the cargo jeep, Alfredo Abe, and truck driver Felix Moztaza.
