LAGUNA , Philippines – Two men, including a brother of a village chief, were killed and two others were wounded when the barangay patrol car they were riding was fired at in Calamba City Saturday night, police said.
The victims had reportedly come from the Calamba City proper and were en route to Barangay Ulango when they were waylaid by at least two armed men in Barangay Punta at 8:55 p.m. Saturday.
Killed on the spot were Rico Evangelista, 31, and Severino Redondo, brother of Barangay Ulango chairman Ambrocio Redondo.
Wounded were Candido Evangelista, 37, barangay public safety and order chief, and Edgar Vargas, 43. They were rushed to the San Jose Trauma Hospital.
Although hit, Evangelista managed to drive the patrol car to a police community precinct.
Responding policemen, however, failed to catch up with the armed men.
Investigators were still clueless on the attack, but hinted that personal grudge could have something to do with it.
