MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – Investigators remain clueless on the killing of the police chief of Kabuntalan town in Maguindanao on Friday.
Inspector Tiongan Namla, 40, was heading for Cotabato City on a motorcycle when gunmen aboard a pick-up truck shot him in the town of Datu Odin Sinsuat.
Namla died at the scene due to several gunshot wounds, said Senior Inspector Datu Tulon Pinguiaman, town police chief.
Pinguiaman said investigators have yet to determine whether the killing was due to an old grudge or work-related.
“I knew him as a sensible police officer. We belong to the same batch when we joined the Philippine National Police as officers through the PNP’s lateral entry process,†he said.
