Chinese held for unpaid hotel bills

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A Chinese businessman was jailed for allegedly evading his bills amounting to P9.4 million at a hotel in Sta. Ana, Cagayan Friday.

Li San Ting of Shanxi, China was arrested by hotel security men in the village of Rapuli, as he was waiting for a bus ride to Manila, said Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel, Cagayan Valley police director.

Laurel said Ting was billeted at the Eastern Hawaii Leisure Co. Ltd., which also operates a casino, from July 31 to March 25. He reportedly did not return to his room, prompting the hotel management to look for him.

The suspect was charged for estafa and was detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Aparri after failing to post P60,000 bail.
