Agaton victims may secure GSIS emergency loan
MANILA, Philippines - At least P22 million in emergency loans has been set aside by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for its members working or residing in Gingoog City who were affected by Typhoon Agaton.
Members from this area have until April 16 to apply for the loan through any GSIS branch.
Applicants should first secure a tentative computation of their loans from any GSIS branch or through the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System kiosk, before submitting their applications.
Qualified to avail are those who are not on a leave of absence without pay status, no pending criminal or administrative charges, no arrears in the payment of mandatory monthly contributions, and no default loans.
Members with outstanding loans may apply, provided they have paid at least 12 monthly installments and filed it not earlier than the anniversary date of the previous loan.
Payment will be in 36 equal monthly installments at six percent interest per annum, which will start three months after the loan was granted.
Earlier, emergency loans were also extended to GSIS members in Agusan del Norte and Sur, Lanao del Norte; Surigao del Norte, and in the towns of Kalong, Carmen, Asuncion, New Corella and Tagum City in Davao del Norte who were also affected by Typhoon Agaton.
