La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines – Police are hunting down the killers of Ifugao activist and Bayan Muna party-list provincial coordinator William Bugatti.
“We will leave no stone unturned to get to the bottom of this,†said Chief Superintendent Isagani Nerez, Cordillera police director.
Bugatti, also a regional member of the Cordillera Human Rights Alliance (CHRA) and a leader of the Ifugao Peasant Movement, was gunned down last Tuesday night in Kiangan town while on his way home. Three bullets pierced his heart.
Audrey Beltran, CHRA secretary-general, said Bugatti, who was shot from behind, earlier had received death threats.
