Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Thursday cancelled the franchise of the bus firm whose unit figured in an accident along the South Luzon Expressway in Laguna, last Monday.

The LTFRB cancelled the Certificate of Public Conveyance of the Southern Carrier Company Inc. which covers 23 units.

Maan Salada of the LTFRB media relations office said the Board revoked the CPC of the bus firm after it denied the motion for reconsideration on the extension of validity of the franchise.

A Southern Carrier bus figured in an accident along SLEX in Sta. Rosa, Laguna last Monday, where 45 passengers were hurt.

Earlier, the LTFRB conducted an investigation on the accident after authorities discovered an "RRCG Bus" painted on the Southern Carrier bus which was involved in the mishap.
