45 hurt as bus rolls over in SLEX

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

LAGUNA, Philippines   â€“ Forty-five people were injured when their bus rolled over along the South Luzon Expressway in Sta. Rosa in this province yesterday morning.

The victims were rushed to Biñan Doctors Hospital and Perpetual Help Hospital for treatment, said Vicente Tomazar, regional director of the Office of Civil Defense 4A.

“Most of the injured suffered bruises, but no casualties were reported,” he said.

The RJC bus came from Batangas and was heading to Manila when its two rear tires came loose as it was traveling near the Sta. Rosa and Mamplasan exits at around 6:15 a.m.

The bus driver reportedly lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to hit the railings before it rolled over, said Senior Superintendent Peter Guibong of the Highway Patrol Group 4A.

The accident snarled traffic for almost three hours, Guibong said.

Investigators have yet to determine the charges to be filed against the bus driver and the operator. “We are still waiting for the testimonies of the victims,” Guibong said.
