'Caloy' maintains strength; storm signal up in 18 areas
MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Depression "Caloy" has maintained its strength and continues to move closer to Surigao del Sur, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Friday afternoon.
In its 5 p.m. update, the agency said the center of the tropical depression was last located at 310 kilometers northeast of Davao City or at 170 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
PAGASA said Caloy is packed with maximum winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and is projected to move west northwest at 15 kilometers per hour.

Moderate to heavy rainfall (five to 15 millimeters per hour) is expected within the 300-kilometer diameter of the tropical depression.
PAGASA warned residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under the storm signal against against possible flashfloods and landslides.
Fishing boats and other small seacrafts were also advised not to venture out into the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon due to the northeast monsoon.
PAGASA said Caloy is expected to be at 90 kilometers west of Butuan City by tomorrow afternoon and at 220 kilometers northwest of Dipolog City by Sunday afternoon. By Monday afternoon, it is expected to be at 100 kilometers northwest of Puerto Princesa City.
