Businesswoman yields almost P500K of drugs in Digos City

MANILA, Philippines - A suspected big time pusher was arrested by authorities, seizing close to half a million pesos worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, during a buy-bust operation in Digos City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said on Tuesday.

Joint operatives of the PDEA and the Philippine National Police nabbed businesswoman Kheng Ibrahim Ebad, 35, of Dulawan, Datu Piang, Maguindanao during the sting operation.

Reports said that elements of PDEA Regional Office 11, together with operatives of Davao del Sur Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force apprehended Ebad last March 16 around 10 a.m. after she sold half a gram of shabu to an undercover PDEA agent at Tienda Aplaya, Digos City.

When frisked, Ebad yielded an additional plastic sachet containing 50 grams of shabu to the authorities. The total estimated value of illegal drugs seized is P454,500.

Ebad will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
