Sunken fishing vessel off Cavite recovered

Camille Diola - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The sunken fishing vessel F/B Dan Israel-G off Ternate town in Cavite has been pulled to shore Monday morning.

Authorities are probing and searching for vessels which possibly collided with it last Wednesday that caused it to sink 33 meters under water, three nautical miles from Ternate.

Cavite police chief Rajo Papollaño said in a radio interview on Monday that the ill-fated vessel is now in Naic town.

Six bodies were recovered following the incident, while 12 survivors were rescued by the vessel's sister ship F/B Dan Israel-L.

Commander Armand Balilo, Philippine Coast Guard spokesman, said they would look into two cargo vessels that could have possibly collided with F/B Dan Israel-G moments before it sank.

The Coast Guard has summoned the captains of M/V Ocean Hope and M/V Galaxy Kalikasan to appear before the investigation panel. The vessels were suspected to have collided with the sunken boat.
