LPA to bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area (LPA) will bring rains over some parts of the Visayas and Mindanao in the next three days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.

The northeast monsoon, on the other hand, will continue to bring cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Luzon in the next few days, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldzar Aurelio said.

At 4 a.m. yesterday, the LPA was spotted at 530 kilometers east of General Santos City and it has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, Aurelio said.

The center of the LPA is expected over Southern Mindanao today and tomorrow, bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over most areas of the Visayas and Mindanao.

In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, particularly the eastern section, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will be experienced with some isolated light rains.

On Friday and Saturday, the weather is expected to gradually improve over the Visayas and Mindanao.

Good weather conditions are expected over Luzon and the Visayas, except for some isolated light rains over the eastern section from Sunday  to Monday next week.

Mindanao will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said daytime temperatures will become relatively warmer in most parts of the country throughout the week.
