Kidnap gang member falls after over 10 years in hiding

MANILA, Philippines - Police have arrested a suspected kidnap for ransom member who has been in hiding for more than a decade for the abduction of a Filipino Chinese businessman in Iloilo City in 1995.

Armed with an arrest warrant, Operatives of the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Region 7 nabbed Jerry Biton in Brgy. Guindurahan, Minglanilla, Cebu last Mar. 6.

Biton is being implicated in the kidnapping of Filipino-Chinese businessman Franklin Caluban in Iloilo City sometime in November 1995.

Caluban was released by his captors three days after his family paid the ransom of P400,000 to Biton's group.

Authorities said that Biton's companions were arrested several days  after they abducted Caluban.
