BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Four people, including a pregnant woman, were killed and 34 other passengers sustained injuries when two buses collided in Hinigaran town in Negros Occidental yesterday morning, Bombo Radyo said.
The fatalities were identified as mini-bus conductor Claudio Lowell Jagonillo, whose head was severed because of the impact; Wilma Escalona who was three months pregnant; Henry Rendon; and Rolando Alfonso.
The collision, which happened along the highway in Barangay Pilar, Hinigaran town, involved a Ceres bus, owned by Vallacar Transit, and a mini-bus.
Police said seven of the 34 injured passengers were brought to a hospital here, while the others were treated in Hinigaran town.
One passenger reportedly lost her right arm.
Police were still investigating the incident. Both drivers are in police custody, Bombo Radyo said.
