DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – San Carlos City and eight towns in Pangasinan will experience an 11-hour power outage today, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said the scheduled power interruption will affect the towns of Malasiqui, Binmaley, Lingayen, Bugallon, Aguilar, Mangatarem, Urbiztondo and parts of Basista.
Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP corporate communication and public affairs officer for North Luzon, said parts of the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) will hold an annual preventive maintenance and testing of the 50-megavolt ampere transformer and associated equipment at the Labrador substation.
Regular line maintenance along the Labrador-Binmaley-San Carlos and Lingayen Tap-Cenpelco-Lingayen 69-kilovolt line will also be conducted simultaneous with Cenpelco’s maintenance and testing of its transformers, she added.
Gaydowen said it was Cenpelco which identified the localities to be affected by the power interruption based on its maintenance needs.
She said Cenpelco allots the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among the end-users.
Gaydowen said normal operations will immediately resume after work completion.
The NGCP advised its customers and the general public affected by the interruption to take the necessary preparations and precautions.
