Basilan vice mayor snatched in Zambo City

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A woman vice mayor of a Basilan town was snatched by still unidentified men in a shopping mall here yesterday afternoon, authorities said.

Hadji Mutamad town Vice Mayor Arsina Kahing-Nanoh, 20, who is also engaged in the buy-and-sell of goods and jewelry here, and her husband Alnajil reportedly went to one of the shopping malls along La Purisima Street in the downtown area shortly after noon but later left on their service vehicle.

Kahing-Nanoh, however, had to return to the mall as her friends asked her to do so. She asked her husband to wait for her call to pick her up.

But the vice mayor’s husband said he later got a message from his wife’s cell phone that she had been kidnapped.

He said the kidnappers informed him that they were just waiting for their “boss” to determine what they wanted.

He said he returned to the mall to look for his wife but to no avail, prompting him to report the matter to the police.
