Kin nabbed for killing retired teacher, daughter
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – A relative who asked to borrow money but was refused has owned up to the killing of a retired teacher and her daughter in Guagua town last Wednesday.
The suspect, Geoffrey Dionisio, 37, was arrested in his house in Barangay Pulong Masle, Guagua the following day, said Senior Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, provincial police director.
Dionisio, according to Albayalde, admitted killing her aunt, retired teacher Adelaida Santos, 67, and her daughter Ivy.
Mother and daughter were watching television in their house when Dionisio arrived and asked if he could borrow money, which the victims reportedly refused.
In a report, police said Santos caught Dionisio looking for money in a room, prompting him to attack her and her daughter with the handle of a floor polisher on the head.
Dionisio then poured gasoline on the victims’ bodies and set them on fire. Police earlier said the bodies were only partially burned.
Neighbors found Santos’ body at the back of her house, and her daughter’s, in the comfort room.
Albayalde said charges of double murder were filed against Dionisio before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
