21 nabbed in call center raid over Facebook cybersex ops

MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested 21 all-male employees of contact centers that allegedly engage in cybersex operations through Facebook in Quezon City.

According to a radio report on Tuesday, the NBI stormed Netuwako Call Center in Novaliches and PA Microsource Incorporated along Congressional Avenue where they confiscated computer units.

The supposed call centers create fake Facebook profiles and e-mail accounts pretending to be female models to lure potential cybersex patrons, the NBI explained.

Clients would then be invited to click on hyperlinks and sign up in websites offering child pornography for a fee.

Employees of the contact centers are given a commission of P400 to P500 once a client enters the adult websites.

NBI arrested 12 employees of Netuwako Call Center and eight from PA Microsource.

The suspects are charged for violations of the Anti-Child Pornography Act due to evidence found on the computer units.

Last January, the NBI also discovered another call center in Quezon City which acted as a front for a cybersex enterprise.

The illegal cybersex businesses based in the Philippines recently made global headlines as local authorities, in coordination with international police, uncovered porn dens mostly catering to foreign pedophiles across islands.
