Mild quake hits Eastern Visayas

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 3.0 earthquake rattled parts of Eastern Visayas yesterday, but this was not enough to cause any damage, state seismologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor occurred at 10:49 a.m. with its epicenter traced at six kilometers southwest of Hernani, Eastern Samar.

It was felt at Intensity 3 in Hernani and Intensity 2 in Tac-loban City.

Phivolcs also recorded small quakes of magnitudes 3.2, 2.7 and 2.5 in San Esteban, Ilocos Sur; Gov. Generoso, Davao Oriental; and Babak, Davao del Norte yesterday, but these were unfelt.
