Sleepwalking woman plunges to death

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines  - A woman, allegedly experiencing somnambulism or sleepwalking, plunged to death from a two-storey house past midnight Friday in a village this city, according to police authority.

Police Station 5 identified the victim as a certain Allexie Jean Columbres, 22, single a resident of Morning Glory, Barangay Putik this city.


Police said they learned of the incident after barangay watchman Roy Baning reported to the police precinct that a woman reportedly leaped through the window from the second floor of a house about 12:50a.m Saturday.

Police investigation further disclosed that the victim’s sister, who owned the house, revealed that the victim and a helper were sleeping at the first floor of the house.

However, about 12:50 a.m. of February 8 they were awakened by the barking of a dog, prompting them to peep out of the window and saw the victim sprawling and bloodied on the cemented hallway outside the house.

The victim’s sister further disclosed that prior to the incident the victim told them that she always had a dream of flying from the window.

The police said the family of the victim believes that the cause of her death was sleepwalking or somnambulism.
