NBI inspects Deniece's condo unit; cops sacked

Camille Diola - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday morning inspected the controversial condominium unit in Forbeswood Heights previously occupied by model Deniece Cornejo and where actor Vhong Navarro was mauled.

Soledad Ramos, the owner of the unit, accompanied the state investigators to the property, which is said to have been lent to Cornejo by a Malaysian renter named Greg Binunus.

NBI-NCR Assistant Regional Director Vicente De Guzman said in a radio interview that the food package that Navarro brought for Cornejo was still in the residential unit and has not been touched since January 22, when businessman Cedric Lee and his companions assaulted and allegedly tried to extort money from the actor.

The unit is also the scene of Navarro and Cornejo's first private meeting last January 17.

Meanwhile, Southern Police District members who were on duty when Lee's group filed a blotter entry against Navarro on the night of January 22 were sacked from their posts.

The Philippine National Police leadership found the Police Officer 3 Dalmacio Lumuian, PO3 Rolly Laureto and two others to have mishandled the complaint filed by Lee who brought in the badly beaten Navarro and rape complainant Cornejo.
