BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines - – Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy III has declared Jan. 30 a non-working holiday throughout the province to give residents the opportunity to take part in the annual celebration of the Bambanti Festival with this year’s theme “Flying High.â€
Through Executive Order 2014-8, Dy proclaimed Jan. 30 as Bambanti Festival Day, which will be the highlight of the five-day festivity which kicked off on Monday.
The annual Bambanti (Scarecrow) Festival is a tribute to Isabelinos’ hard work, diligence and resilience in making the province a consistent top producer of rice and corn in the country, Dy said in his order.
“The yearly festivity is being celebrated primarily as a common gesture of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest and the resiliency of the Isabelinos amid the natural calamities hitting the province almost every year,†he said. – Charlie Lagasca, Raymund Catindig
